about me

hey, i’m rachel!

I believe in the power of theatre; the power of empathy and catharsis.

Performance is a unique phenomenon; nothing bonds an audience to an artist like watching humanity unfold before their eyes. Every time I perform, I’m driven by the exhilaration of that vulnerability. Theatre artists have the skill to capture and express the human spirit, and the passion to do it over and over again. I’m endlessly grateful to devote myself to that artistry.

During my time at University of California, Irvine, I’ve involved myself with many different avenues of theatre to satiate my love for the arts.

I proudly served on the council of Brick Theatre Co, UCI’s Queer theatre collective, which creates opportunities for LGBTQ+ students to write, direct and perform theatre highlighting uniquely queer experiences.

I was a Co-Captain of “Schrodinger's Cast,” a student-run neo-futurist ensemble producing performances of “30 Plays in 60 Minutes.” We create spontaneous and cathartic performance pieces, allowing students to re-imagine the bounds of traditional theatre. I’ve also been fortunate to participate in productions of devised theatre and workshops of original pieces here at UCI.

I consider myself a writer, and have been able to explore theatre from an analytical, media-based point of view by serving as an Arts & Entertainment writer and editor at New University, UCI’s student publication. (You can check out my writing portfolio here!)
